HEIRS
OF THE PROMISE
Do we ever think of our calling and what it means to us as women? I have, and it is important to me that you know the truth. Not my words but the bible’s. Have you ever been given the impression that a woman’s calling is not as important as a man’s? If you have, it’s not true. Do we look to the bible for comfort? Do we pray long and hard on it? Do we look to the bible for answers rather than to man? If we do not maybe we are looking in the wrong place. Peter was married and his wife accompanied him on his evangelical journeys. 1 Corinthians 9:5 Do we have no right to take along a believing wife, as do also the other apostles, the brothers of the Master, and Cephas? (Cephas is Peter in English) He gives us some very important information regarding a woman’s calling. 1 Peter 3:7 Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as Heirs with you of the gracious gift, of life, that nothing will hinder your prayer.
Peter is saying both men and women are called as firstfruits and are joint heirs of the promise of eternal life. The apostle Paul tells us more about this. Galatians 3:26-29 You are all sons of Elohim through faith in Yahshua Messiah, for all of you who were baptized into Yahshua have clothed yourselves with Yahshua. There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Yahshua. If you belong to Yahshua, then you are Heirs according to the promise.
If we look to the bible for comfort and truth we will find it. Looking at the above scriptures we can see that men and women are called with the same calling to the same destiny. John 6:44 No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day. (The word “him” in Greek is a pronoun and can also be translated “Her”
“Herself”, “it”) We can also see that Yahweh and Yahshua do not see gender, nationality or state of freedom. They see heirs of the promise. Romans 8:17 Now If we are children, then Heirs - Heirs of Elohim and Co- Heirs with Yahshua, if indeed we share in his suffering in order that we may also share in his glory.
The above are scriptures from the New Testament. Now lets look at the Old Testament. Numbers 27:1-7. Tells the story of the daughters of Zelophehad. He died in the desert in his own sins but left no sons. All that was left of his line were his daughters. Here is what Yahweh said about this when Moses took their case to him. Numbers 27:5 Moses brought their case beforeYahweh.
6 And Yahweh said to Moses, 7 "The daughters of Zelophehad are right; you shall give them possession of an inheritance among their father’s brethren and cause the inheritance of their father to pass to them. 8 And you shall say to the people of Israel, ‘If a man dies, and has no son, then you shall cause his inheritance to pass to his daughter.
Yahweh did not with hold the daughter’s inheritance from them. So if Yahweh does not make a distinction why should we? There is a lot more to it than just being heirs. We must also be worthy of the gifts of Elohim. In all things we have to show ourselves worthy of Yahweh. To get a picture of what Yahweh sees as a complete woman let us read; Proverbs 31:10 ¶ A good wife who can find? She is far more precious than jewels.
11 The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he will have no lack of gain.
12 She does him good, and not harm, all the days of her life.
13 She seeks wool and flax, and works with willing hands.
14 She is like the ships of the merchant, she brings her food from afar.
15 She rises while it is yet night and provides food for her household and tasks for her maidens.
16 She considers a field and buys it; with the fruit of her hands she plants a vineyard.
17 She girds her loins with strength and makes her arms strong.
18 She perceives that her merchandise is profitable. Her lamp does not go out at night.
19 She puts her hands to the distaff, and her hands hold the spindle.
20 She opens her hand to the poor, and reaches out her hands to the needy.
21 She is not afraid of snow for her household, for all her household are clothed in scarlet.
22 She makes herself coverings; her clothing is fine linen and purple.
23 Her husband is known in the gates, when he sits among the elders of the land.
24 She makes linen garments and sells them; she delivers girdles to the merchant.
25 Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come.
26 She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.
27 She looks well to the ways of her household, and does not eat the bread of idleness.
28 Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her:
29 "Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all."
30 Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears Yahweh is to be praised.
31 Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her works praise her in the gates.
This is how we are supposed to be. This woman makes her husband proud of her and of her works. Hers is a beauty within. She is successful in all she does. She provides clothing, food, and all of her family’s physical needs and a whole lot more. She teaches her family the value of physical hard work and spiritual hard work. It is plain that the fruit of the Spirit is growing within her
Galatians 5: 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such there is no law.
The Proverbs 31 woman is complete in every way. She is our model, our example. Paul has good advice that applies to both male and female. 2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is inspired by Elohim and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,17 that the man of Elohim may be complete, equipped for every good work.
( The word “man” in this scripture is “anthropos” and it means both male and female) Both genders must study the scriptures to achieve the completeness mentioned above. If we are to achieve this we must 2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto Elohim, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
If we do this we will one day hear Yahshua say; Matthew 25:21 ----’Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a little, I will set you over much; enter into the joy of your master.’
John13:34-35. A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another,
